
The British economy grew 0.5 percent in May this year.
According to the British Office of National Statistics (ONS) data, the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 0.5 percent in May this year, exceeding the expectation of zero percent. The country’s economy contracted by 0.2 percent in the previous month (April).
It was reported that the British economy grew by 0.4 percent in the three-month period covering March, April, and May, and 3.5 percent in the last 12-month period until the end of May. The statement emphasized that the growth in health services is the main driving factor in the monthly growth data.
Commenting on the data, the British Finance Minister said, “It is wonderful to see the economy returning to growth again. But I am not satisfied. I know people are worried. We will continue to support families.” said.
In May this year, inflation in the UK reached 9.1%, the highest level in the last 40 years.
