China Does Not Want to be the Target of Sanctions

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China does not want to be affected by US sanctions due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

The US has warned China, noting that supporting Russia “could have consequences”. After the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, the first high-level US-China meeting was held in Rome, while the two sides described the meeting as “constructive”.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan discussed many issues, including the war, with his Chinese counterpart, Yang Jiechi, for six hours.

While no concrete steps were announced as a result of the meeting, the Chinese side stated that they will continue to encourage peace talks in the Russia-Ukraine war. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country does not want to be affected by US sanctions on the war with Russia.
