Henan, with a population of 5 million, became the second city to be quarantined in China due to Omicron

Authorities in Anyang city of Henan province urged the public not to leave the house due to the emergence of the infectious Omicron variant.

The activities of all companies in the region were suspended, travel to Beijing was stopped. According to local health officials, 58 cases have been detected this morning. The quarantined areas are close to Hebei province, where the Winter Olympics will be held.

China announced today that it has 110 new cases of the virus. The number of cases in Henan was 87.

Thus, the second shutdown took place in 20 days due to cases in China. Due to the delta variant, a curfew began in the Xi’an region at the end of December.

Partial quarantine is also implemented in the port city of Tianjin, which is adjacent to Beijing.
