China has been  increasing military patrol activities around Taiwan, following US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit last month. 

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense reported that 42 Chinese warplanes, one military drone, and nine warships were seen around the island on Saturday. 

In the statement made by the ministry, it was stated that 17 of the planes flew to the east of the air and sea line. One plane and the drone flew to the southwest of the place that Taiwan declared the “Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).” 

9 SU-30, 4 J-16, and 4 J-10 fighter jets crossed the “middle line,” which is supposed to limit their area of ​​influence in the Taiwan Strait. At the same time, 1 Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft and “BZK-005” type military unmanned aerial vehicle ADIZ It was stated that he flew to the southwest of. 

The statement noted that 42 warplanes, one drone, and nine ships detected around the island were tracked by electronic tracking devices, patrol planes, boats, and ground missile systems. 

The flights coincided with mainland China and Taiwan’s traditional Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.
