Decline in Asian Stock Markets

Asian stocks fell

Stocks in the Asia Pacific region fell on Wednesday trading.

Shares in Asia-Pacific tumbled Wednesday after negative news from Wall Street and China’s factory activity.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 1.38 percent, and the Hang Seng Tech index fell 1.74 percent. Alibaba lost 3.3 percent. Shanghai Composite fell 0.36 percent in mainland China, and Shenzhen Component fell 0.78 percent.

China’s official manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index came in at 49.4 for August, slightly exceeding expectations, according to official data. Non-manufacturing PMI was 52.6.

The Nikkei 225 fell 0.52 percent in Japan, and the Topix index fell 0.56 percent.

The Australian S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.34%. In South Korea, the Kospi was up 0.46 percent, while the Kosdaq was up 0.2 percent.

MSCI’s largest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan lost 0.75 percent.
