Ukraine announced that the grain storage facilities were not damaged in the attack on the Odesa port, and the shipments are continuing.

The European Union (EU) will demand priority in the supply of liquefied natural gas from the USA.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission, spoke about the Russia-Ukraine war and energy issues at the European Parliament (EP) General Assembly session held in Brussels.

Recalling that they have implemented four packages of sanctions against Russia so far, von der Leyen said, “Supporting Ukraine also means not using the resources that Putin used to finance his brutal war.”

Von der Leyen reminded that they also stopped investments in the Russian energy sector and stated that they want to leave energy dependency behind. Von der Leyen stated that the Russian economy has been negatively affected by the sanctions and that global companies have recently left the country.

Russia takes the first place in the EU’s natural gas supply with 40 percent. The EU imported 155 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia last year. EU countries want to quickly reduce their dependence on Russian gas.
