Inflation in Tokyo is at its highest in 40 years

Core consumer inflation hits 40-year high in Tokyo

Core consumer prices in Tokyo rose 3.6 percent in November compared to the same period last year. Core inflation, which was 3.4 percent in October, was expected to be 3.5 percent in November.

Core inflation in Tokyo had risen to 4.2 percent in April 1982.

When energy and fresh food prices are excluded, core prices increased by 2.5 percent in November compared to the same period of the previous year. In October, prices rose 2.2 percent.
