The White House announced new sanctions on more than 400 companies, including Russia’s largest bank Sberbank.

In a written statement from the White House, it was stated that US President Joe Biden met with his allies in Brussels.

“In close coordination with the European Union and our G7 partners, the United States has today sanctioned more than 400 individuals and companies,” the statement said.

Among those on the sanctions list is Herman Gref, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sberbank, the country’s largest bank, and an adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin since the 1990s. In the statement, it was underlined that these sanctions would continue as long as Russia continues the war in Ukraine. In addition, 48 Russian state-owned defense companies, which form the basis of the Russian defense industry and production systems such as Russian helicopters and missiles, were also included in the sanctions.
