Tension in global markets

Taiwan was not mentioned in the statement regarding the visit to Pacific countries.

In the statement regarding the visits of Nancy Pelosi to the Indo-Pacific countries, the possible visit to Taiwan was not mentioned. The statement published last night on the official website reported that Pelosi would visit Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan with the congress delegation of 5 people.

It was stated that the delegation would focus on mutual security, economic partnership, and democratic governance in the region’s countries. Rumors that Pelosi would visit Taiwan as part of the trip caused tension in US-Chinese relations.

China’s Ministry of Defense warned that they will respond harshly if Pelosi visits Taiwan. “If Pelosi visits Taiwan, the Chinese army will not stand idly by.’’ China’s Ministry of Defense said.

Due to Pelosi’s possible visit, the US and Chinese armies increased their military activity near Taiwan.
