Russia cut off Finland's gas

Russian energy company Gazprom reported that natural gas shipments to Finland had been completely stopped.

According to the written statement from Gazprom, Finnish natural gas company Gasum did not make the necessary payment in rubles for Russian gas shipments.

The statement noted that natural gas shipments to Gasum and Finland were completely stopped today because the said payment was not made in rubles. Gazprom supplied about 70 percent of the natural gas consumed by Finland last year.

In the statement made yesterday by the Finnish company Gasum, it was announced that the natural gas would be cut off today, and the company was prepared for the situation.

In addition, Inter RAO, Russia’s largest electricity generation and distribution company announced last week that it would no longer provide electricity to Finland.
